Where there is a Will there is a Way...
12.11.06 (11:53 am)   [edit]

I feel like shouting from the roof tops. Adam our son graduated from Kansas State University this weekend. You are probably thinking how does this relate to marketing and your own business? There is a great story of perservance here.

Adam's Graduation Day

When Adam started college I had just found out my corporate job was ending and I can remember us sitting down and talking. He knew my passion was to be full time in my own business, at the same time he knew most of the funds for his college education would be coming from that income I was earning at the job.

It was a very sad time in our family .. the very same day I found out the grant my job was funded by would not be renewed my dad had a massive heart attack and died. They always say the lord will never put more on you than you can handle. I felt he was testing me that day...

Adam in his wisdom said to me, "Mom you need to follow your dream and grow your business." He did this not knowing where or how this would effect him. Most of you who know me  know that I would give the shirt off my back for my kids.

It was a very hard decision and leap of faith to make to jump into business full time not knowing how it might effect my children.  I can remember sitting in a conference put on by the small business adminstration where they said allow 3 to 5 years before you start making a profit. I just told myself that might be true for the average person, but I wasn't average so it shouldn't take that long for me.

I jumped into business full time and found my passion was marketing online. When most parents were sending their kids a check every month to help pay for college expenses, I was helping Adam build customers so he would get a bonus check each month.

It's funny now that I look back at it. Adam has a roomate whose parents faithly would send him $500 every month for living expenses. Now that this roomate is moving back home to do his student teaching that $500 will be sure to stop coming in from his parents. For Adam that bonus check continues to grow and can become a full time income if he want's it to.

I guess the moral of this email is how bad do you want it? Do you want your business bad enough to do what ever it takes to make it work? Where there is a will there is a way.... How strong is your will?

Now my focus is on teaching and training. Stay tuned for an amazing program I'll be releasing called "A Franchise Online." This will be a direct path to follow, but unlike typical franchise you will be creating your own brand/image. I call this franchising with a twist!

Stay tuned... there's more great things to come.

Thoughts on Leadership
12.04.06 (12:04 pm)   [edit]
I found the following short comment about leadership rather interesting.  Keep in mind... this is a leadership business, so one of our objectives or goals should be to strive to be  a better leader
Good leadership is figuring out what needs to be done and then doing it," he said. "If an organization needs financial stability, then that's what you do. If an organization needs to grow, you adapt and change.
I will add to the above comment.  If a team needs more new people, then that's what you want to focus on.  If you need more personal group monthly volume, that's what to focus on. If you have a desire to develop more sales leaders, that obviously is what you want to work at to make happen.
I think the main point here is this, whatever is needed for your team/organization, it is the leader's job to recognize the need and then decide to take the necessary steps to make it happen.
Think about it!
