Oprah Show -Millionaire Woman Next Door
09.30.04 (11:07 am) [edit]
This show is on TODAY September 30, 2004 -I have no idea if this show will relate to network marketing at all, but it's the "third party" kind of event we can use in our conversations.
There are lots of SHAK*** women who are a millionaire woman next door! And lots more who are going to be! And lots of women we talk with watch Oprah, read her OPRAH magazine, and visit her website and participate in the online chats there. Just a thought... (Tape it as I do to watch when I'm doing something else...)
Eighteen days ago, wild dreams came true! Now, the follow up! What's happened since? Then, a teacher, a manicurist, a stay-at-home-mom. How women just like you made millions. Could you do it?
Learn more and talk about this show. http://www.oprah.com/tows/coming/tows_comi ng_thu.jhtml" title="http://www.oprah.com/tows/coming/tows_comi ng_thu.jhtml" target="_blank"http://www.oprah.com/tows/com...

Lessons Learned - Part IX
09.29.04 (3:57 pm) [edit]
Written By: Gary Burke (Master Coordinator)
Greetings,
If you really want to make a difference in peoples lives and achieve excellence for yourself, and in the process make it look and feel easy, get a message that you feel so strongly about that it won't stay in you.
What is your passion? Are you living your passion? Do you have a message that you feel compelled to tell EVERYONE about? If you don't, I would strongly suggest you go for a long walk and think about what really excites you in this Shak*** business.
Is it: The opportunity?
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; Nutrition?
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; The environment?
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; Helping people?
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; Giving money away to missions?
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; What is it?
Once you have this figured out, believe me folks the business gets easier. Disappointments won' t feel like a big deal. When someone doesn't keep an appointment you'll think they missed a great opportunity to learn something. You won't think that driving 50 miles one way to attend a meeting is a big deal, you'll just go.
My passion is the opportunity. I absolutely love talking about it and showing people how to live differently in their financial lives. I also LOVE to teach and coach people. I love doing meetings. As I have heard Faye say to people over the years, "be careful what you tell Gary because he's always looking for someone to coach."
The main reason I feel I haven't gone to work in over 34 years is I LOVE DOING THIS BUSINESS. I have a passion for Shaklee and people in general.
It will be well worth your time to discover your true passion. Once you have it you will find it gets much easier to talk to people because you will have a message that will not stay in you. You will feel compelled to talk to everyone because you know it will help them.

Lesson Learned -XII
09.27.04 (6:56 am) [edit]
Written By: Gary Burke (Master Coordinator)
When I first learned this lesson it became clear what I should be doing to build a large Shakl** organization.
Lesson #7. It is easier to get a new audience than get a new talk.
What this is saying to me is it is much easier to find a new person who responds to my presentation than it is trying to have a different presentation for every person.
So many people want to design a talk for every situation or type of person. That would certainly be the most difficult way to build an organization in my opinion. It is also a way to complicate this very simple business. I will do whatever I can to simplify this business because simplicity will attract, whereas complexity will only impress. Our job is NOT to impress prospects, it is to give a simple presentation which will attract them into the business.
Have a presentation you are comfortable with, then learn how to show it to people in a very simple way. The more frequently you present, the better you will become. After 10 to 15 presentations you will begin to fine tune your presentation, plus you will be become more comfortable with it, your confidence will be there and I believe you will start experiencing better results in your sponsoring.
If you are constantly changing presentations, and heaven forbid, teaching the people in your organization a new presentation every 4 to 6 months, you will confuse and overwhelm them and you will not see growth in your business.
Have a simple, straight forward presentation, be excited about the future for you and your prospect, and you will make progress.

Effective Communication
09.23.04 (1:48 pm) [edit]
Communication is one of the keys to achieving a greater return on relationships. Remember, you get what you ask for so make sure you’re asking for what you want. A quote from Dale Carnegie sums it up well... "There are four ways, and only four ways, in which we have contact with the world. We are evaluated and classified by these four contacts: what we do, how we look, what we say, and how we say it."

A View on Aging
09.22.04 (7:59 pm) [edit]
Since today is my birthday I'm thinking of years and age and ran across something I would like to share. I have always said your only as old as you THINK YOU ARE!!!
This was written by George Carlin... Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five!
That's the key.
You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!
But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.
Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 . . . and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!
You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.
And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."
Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!
HOW TO STAY YOUNG 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay " them " .
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. " An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
And if you don't share this with at least 8 people - who cares? But do share this with someone. We all need to live life to its fullest each day.

Part III - Lessons Learned
09.21.04 (9:44 am) [edit]
Written By: Gary Burke (Shaklee Master Coordinator)
Greetings,
I feel this lesson really helped me to better understand prospecting and the process for finding people who truly wanted a better future.
The lesson: My job is to create interest, not to find people who already have an interest.
This is more of an attitude than anything else in my opinion. When we have our prospecting mindset in place and we've made up our mind to GROW our business, it helps to know that what we really must do is learn how to create interest.
I hear people tell me they "can't find anyone interested in Shaklee." I have heard this for years. I don't believe that for a second. There are millions of people who want a better future, better health, more income, freedom, control of time. I could go on and on.
How might we create interest? When talking with people talk about THEM. Ask questions.
Learn what's on their mind. When you hear something that Shaklee has a solution for, address it to the person.
- "If I could show you how to earn _________ would you be willing to take 30 to 40
minutes to see the basics of what we do?" "If I could show you how to build a great income that would pay you_______ year after year, would you take 30 minutes to look at it?" "If I could show you a way to build a great income that would pay you when you're not there, or not working, would you take a look at it?"
Show current examples of success. Show 1099's. Talk about the future. Give people hope for their future. Talk to them about making hope become a reality for them. When talking like this to prospects, I know you will be creating interest.
Then it's up to you to have a simple overview of the Shaklee opportunity to show, and while doing this continue to talk about their future, their hope, and here is a vehicle that will help get you there.

Are You Taking your B's? Do They Make a Difference?
09.20.04 (7:04 pm) [edit]
Yes, they do!
1n 1998 the March of Dimes teamed up with the Center for Disease Control to deliver a public health message: woman of child bearing years should take 400 mcg of the vitamin daily. It is a simple act of preventative medicine that cuts the risk of neural tube defects like spina bifida more than 50% in developing fetus’s.
Awareness of the supplements benefit have increased dramatically, while in 1995 only ½ of woman ages 18-45 even knew what folic acid was, that figure has jumped up to 77%. By 2004 the number of woman taking their daily dose rose up to 40% and all time high. Did this folic-acids advice reduce birth defects as intended? As a matter if fact the CDC reports that 2 major types of neueral – tube defects have dropped by 25%!!
Cited from Time Magazine Sept 27th, 2004 – by Sara Song
Shaklee’s Patented Folic Acid Coating - B-Complex
Healthy Hearts, Healthy Babies, & Still More Folic acid, a critical B vitamin, isn't easily absorbed, so Shaklee developed a unique folic acid coating that makes the nutrient more accessible and bioavailable. This patented technology is a Shaklee exclusive.
What stress robs – B Complex restores – known as the "happy" vitamin!
You are in need of B if you experience these symptoms: Mood changes, irritability, nervousness, fatigue, depression, mental confusion, headaches, dizziness, trembling, loss of appetite, insomnia, stress, hypoglycemia, anxiety attacks, cracks at the corner of your mouth, low immunity, hair loss, anemia, dieting
Benefits include: needed to convert food to energy, alleviates sugar cravings, formation of protective antibodies & healthy red blood cells, normal growth in children, reduces risk of heart disease, may be beneficial for the treatment of PMS, morning sickness, anemia, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression, and hearing loss, helps prevent birth defects, cervical dysplacia and colon cancer, needed to reduce homocysteine levels

Building a Shaklee Business FAQ List
09.20.04 (2:40 pm) [edit]
Since there are lots of people who read this blog....I have decided to put together answers to the top ten most commonly asked questions we receive from people interested in starting a Shaklee business. After going through the material feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
The questions covered include:
1. How much money can I earn in a Shaklee business?
2. How do I make money in Shaklee?
3. What does PV stand for?
4. How do I become a Shaklee Director?
5. What is the cost of starting a Shaklee business?
6. How do I sign up people to become Shaklee members?
7. How do I place Shaklee orders for myself and for people who want to order from me?
8. How much time do I need to give to my Shaklee business?
9. What kind of training and support do you offer?
10. What are the steps to get started?
1. How much money can I earn with a Shaklee business?
There is no limit to what you can earn in Shaklee. How far you go and what you earn depends on your efforts. There are people in Shaklee who earn over a million dollars a year. In fact the Shaklee business opportunity has the most people at the top of any network marketing/direct sales company in the world with people in the top rank (called Master Coordinator) enjoying average incomes over $348,000 a year. No other company pays more bonuses out to the independent distributors in the field or offers the level of opportunity, earnings and success to so many as Shaklee does.
2. How do I make money in Shaklee?
You make money in Shaklee three different ways. Price Differentials, Volume Bonuses and Leadership Overrides Bonuses.
Price differential: This is the money you earn from buying the products at one price and selling them at another price. As a Shaklee member you buy at MN (Member Net) price and save 15% off the retail price (SRP=suggested retail price), so if you by products and sell them at retail price you make an instant 15% markup. When you and your group orders total over 250PV worth of product in a given month you earn an additional 15-16% off the Member price, which you receive in your monthly Shaklee bonus, check. As a Director you earn an additional 10% on member and distributor sales.
Volume Bonus: You earn volume bonuses of anywhere from 4% to 34% on the PV of your orders and orders from members in your group depending on the PV Volume of your personal group in a given month. You earn the PV difference between your volume and the volume of distributors in your personal group who qualified for a bonus check that month. The volume bonuses along with any price differentials are paid in your Shaklee bonus check on the 15th of the following month.
250PV 4%
500PV 8%
1000PV 12% *Maximum volume bonus % you can earn as a non-Director
2000PV 16% * Director Maintenance level
2500PV 20%
3000PV 24%
4000PV 28%
5000PV 30%
7000PV 32%
10000PV 34%
Leadership Bonus: Shaklee pays exceptionally well for people who teach others to build their own Shaklee business and become a Director. People in Shaklee who make well into 6-figures a year are those who have built an organization by teaching a few people to become a Director and then taught those Directors to find, develop and teach others to become Directors too. You earn 7% on each 1st level Director your bring in and 6%-3% on each Director business you develop down up to four Director levels deep. (Percentage on 2nd thru 4th levels paid based on # of first level directors and your total Business Group Volume through all four levels of Directors)
3. What does PV stand for?
We like to describe PV as "bonus points" that you accumulate each month. Each Shaklee product has a PV attached to it. PV stands for "Product Volume" and is used to determine the percentage of the volume bonus you receive at the end of the month. The more PV you and your personal group does in a given month the higher your volume bonus. It starts with a 4% bonus at 250PV and goes up from there all the way up to 34%. PV is close to a 1:1 ratio at the Director price.
4. How do I become a Shaklee Director?
A Shaklee Director does 2000PV in their personal group each month. Becoming a Shaklee Director is easy and can be done quickly. You will become a Director by finding twenty or so families who become regular Shaklee product users, and/or by developing a small team of people who join with you and start building their own Shaklee business with goals of becoming a Director quickly also. Or buy selling six AirSource units a month.
As soon as you and those you introduce to Shaklee start buying Shaklee products you begin accumulating PV. You can qualify to become a Director in Shaklee by accumulating 4500PV over a three-month period or by doing 3000PV in one month.
If you make a serious commitment to building a Shaklee business, follow our lead, go through the Shaklee System 7 training materials, put together a plan of action and follow that plan you can become a Shaklee Director in as little as 30 to 90 days. From there you can build a core group of customers and other Shaklee business builders that will create the foundation to provide you a constant monthly stream of residual income.
5. What is the cost of starting a Shaklee business?
The cost of getting started can fit any budget. People can start a Shaklee business as soon as they pay the $19.95 membership, as there is no requirement to purchase products in order to become a member. All that is required is to sign up with your SSN# in order to be paid Shaklee bonus checks whenever you at least meet the monthly minimum 250PV requirement.
Many people want to include a Shaklee website as part of their business which they can send people to for ordering products online and for signing up to become a member in their group. The initial cost for a Shaklee website is $29.95 which pays for getting your online business set up and the first month of service. Then it costs just $14.95 per month for the website thereafter. You don't need any special technical skills to operate a Shaklee website and you can have your website up in matter of minutes.
You'll probably also want to buy business cards, additional catalogs, and sales materials related to your business focus. As a rule of thumb, consider budgeting about $100 for sales and marketing tools to help you launch your business.
From there what you spend on starting your Shaklee business depends on your financial situation, your goals, your product and business focus, what you want to achieve and how fast you want to achieve it. In the end, our philosophy is to treat a Shaklee business just like you would start any other business. You should invest in your business in the beginning, based on your budget and your goals. We can also help you select your initial product order.
Regardless of what you spend on starting your Shaklee business, unlike many new business ventures where becoming profitable and getting your initial investment back can take years, you can expect to make back your initial investment as quickly as your first month or two in business, plus enjoy the many tax deductions available to you with your Shaklee business.
6. How do I sign up people to become Shaklee members?
Once you become a distributor you get a Shaklee ID# that you’ll use to sponsor others.
The easiest way to sign people up as members is to get your own Shaklee distributor website. Then anyone you introduce to Shaklee can sign up online at your website and no additional paperwork is needed.
You can also give the person who wants to sign up as a Shaklee member your Shaklee ID# and they can call Shaklee direct at 1-800-SHAKLEE (742-5533) and become a member and place their first order right away. Afterwards you and them will need to fill out a hard copy of the application and mail or fax it back to Shaklee within 30 days.
A person can also fill out a Shaklee application (five are included in your member kit). They fill out the top half and sign and date it at the bottom. (They will also need to fill out the method of payment box which will charge their credit card $19.95). You then fill out the Sponsors information on the middle right hand side, and then mail or fax the application back to Shaklee.
7. How do I place Shaklee orders for myself or for those who want to order from me?
Ordering from Shaklee is easy. There are several ways you can do it.
--Send them to your website.
--Give them your Shaklee ID# and Shaklee's 1-800-742-5533 ordering line and let them call in to sign up and place an order themselves.
--Collect orders from people and call Shaklee direct and place one order. The products will be shipped to you and then you distribute the orders to the people who placed orders with you. Lots of people do this for orders from co-workers at work, family neighbors, or a group they belong to that meets on a regular basis.
--Have a small inventory of product packages from your area of interest and sell first-time orders directly. Then you can sign people up so they can order directly from Shaklee for any future orders or set them up on Encore Auto Ship so that their selected package of Shaklee products is automatically shipped to them each month.
8. How much time do I need to give to my Shaklee business?
A Shaklee business is designed to fit into any lifestyle--from a stay at home Mom to an entrepreneur, from a student to a working professional. We recommend spending a minimum of five hours per week on your Shaklee business. More if you want to grow faster. Also as you go through the normal course of your day, you'll find plenty of opportunities to share Shaklee with others. People are always having conversations about health, money and work, which can naturally lead into a discussion about Shaklee. Dr. Shaklee once said if you talk to two new people a day about Shaklee you'll never have to worry about growing your Shaklee business.
9. What kind of Training and Support do you offer?
We offer excellent training support through a variety of means all conducive to doing a Shaklee business in the 21st Century.
We offer a FREE email-training program that you will receive over the course of your first 30 days at the distributor level or above. You'll learn all about the company and the business, the different product lines, and how to put together your own Shaklee business plan.
We will also keep in close correspondence with you through e-mail. We're here to answer all your questions, and mentor you to success. We also provide Distributors, Associates and Directors in our organization a monthly business training e-mail newsletter with tips and strategies and a monthly member product-focused e-mail newsletter that you can personalize and send to your members and customers.
Personal Coaching by Phone. We offer an initial free one-hour consultation to anyone who comes in at the Distributor, Associate or Director level. During that time we'll talk to you about your financial goals, answer any questions, and help you put your business plan together. At the Associate and Director levels, we offer one-hour weekly consultations by phone on a regular basis for those who choose to schedule them. We are also available to schedule time for 3-way phone calls or larger conference calls with you and your prospects to share the Shaklee business opportunity or for a general training session. There are also free weekly Shaklee Conference Calls for additional phone training done by Shaklee.
Personal Coaching/Personal Meeting. If your not local to us, and come in at the Director level, we can arrange to come to your town at no cost to you for a 2-3 day personal training session which can include a product and/or business opportunity presentation for your prospects. We can also direct you to support meetings in your local area for you to attend and to bring others if they are available in your area. Shaklee also provides training opportunities through meetings around the country and through their regional and national conventions.
10. What are the steps to get started?
1. I you haven’t already done so, watch the Explore Shaklee multimedia online presentation at: http://www.shaklee.net/cindy/distMain" title="http://www.shaklee.net/cindy/distMain" target="_blank"http://www.shaklee.net/cindy/...
2. Determine your level of entry: Distributor, Associate or Director and place your initial product package order for that level. If you are still evaluating the opportunity, then order at the 250PV Distributor level to qualify for the better discount. Simply go to www.shaklee.net/cindy choose products you would like to try or change brands on products you buy elsewhere, but now can buy from Shaklee. If you're in the evaluation phase try to choose different items from different product lines to get a better sense of the offerings. When you go to check out click on save 15% and sign up as a Shaklee distributor for $19.95.
3. With your new Shaklee ID# visit and tour the online Shaklee Member Center at: http://www.shaklee.net/member... be sure to download the System 7 Training Guide.
4. Begin working through the exercises in the System 7 Training Guide. Go through the materials in the New Member Kit when it arrives and schedule a time to meet with us by phone for your FREE consultation to develop your Shaklee Business Plan and pick the date to officially launch your business.
Conclusion:
A Shaklee business is a great way for you to own your life--you can build a significant full-time income working part-time out of your home sharing Shaklee's fantastic products and excellent business opportunity and improving the lives of everyone you touch.
We hope this has answered some of your preliminary questions. We look forward to hearing from you, learning more about you, answering any other questions you might have and assisting you through your evaluation process.

Recommended Reading...The Purple Cow
09.18.04 (6:08 am) [edit]
The September weather is refreshing... I have more energy...I am more motivated. Are you? Considering all the good things happening in Shaklee now, why wouldn't we be ready to rock and roll? | Part II - Lessons Learned |
09.17.04 (12:30 pm) [edit]
Written by Gary Burke, Shaklee Master Coordinator
Greetings,
Here is a lesson that could be vital for you to learn if you truly want your business to move up to a higher volume or rank.
You will win or build with inspired people NOT with programs.
I know that the people reading this message want their business to grow. What does it really take to get things moving the way you want them to? Is it getting a new program? Is it revisiting an old program? Or is it getting some new people into your organization who are inspired about Shakl**as a future?
The answer is obvious isn't it? I know you know the answer. I have known for many years that if I want to grow our organization I have to get out and do the things I probably don't like to do.....such as prospecting. When I find a person or couple who are excited about Shaklee it really doesn't make a hill of beans difference what program I follow.
I will step up to the plate and tell you what you need. You need to start talking to people about this great company, products and THE OPPORTUNITY. Don't even think about stopping your prospecting until you have 3 to 4 very inspired new people in your group. Your business will change for the better so fast it will make your head swim.
Changing programs every 6 months or so is deadly for an organization. I've seen many leaders do this and their group gets confused and the effort stops. I've never seen a group get confused because they found a few inspired people.
How to find a few inspired people? This is a good question and I feel I have part of the answer. ARE YOU INSPIRED? I know that I am and I will find 3 to 4 inspired people who want Shakl** as their future. I am committed to do this.
It is your responsibility to get yourself motivated or inspired about your future. Once you do this, believe me it becomes easier to keep your business on track for growth.
Enthusiastically,
Gary Burke

09.17.04 (6:19 am) [edit]
Editors note:This is one approach for building a Shaklee business. (How some Shaklee distributors approach a Shaklee Business)
SHAKLE BUSINESS BUILDING PROCESS Prepare---Present---Proac tive follow up-Plan FIRST STEP: Prepare Your Presentation Notebook > This can be downloaded. www.shaklee.com Develop your people approach such as your 30-second response to question "What do you do? Prepare your mindset. Know your long term goal. This begins with Why do you want to have a Shaklee Business and self talk.Focus on your Why. What is important to you? Your Why is the dream that drives your goals. Take time to write down your goals. Write out affirmations. Read them daily.
SECOND STEP: Get Started! Shaklee-ize your life! Sign up for Auto Ship which will be an example to all your prospects and members -Order the Shaklee Essentials: The Basics and the Soy Energizing protein. Focus on the Shaklee Essentials Auto Ship with your new members. It is important to keep everything ASAP (As Simple As Possible). This will make you copyable and bring you builders. The easiest way to order is 1-800-SHAKLEE with your sponsor's ID number.Gradually Shaklee-ize your lifestyle by changing home and personal care brands to Shaklee.

Conference Calls - Become familiar with the opportunity and conference calls that are available to you. The Roger-Call is a 3-minute message from Roger Barnett, our new CEO/Owner. | THINK ABOUT THIS! |
09.16.04 (7:34 pm) [edit]
Written by Rod Larkin, Master Coordinator (that's the top paid people in Shaklee)
Here is something for you to think about and if this does not get your heart pumping for our outstanding new opportunity under the new leadership of Roger Barnett, I honestly do not know what will.
Over the past 3 decades, millions of people have created wealth and financial independence because they got into the right business at the right time.
In the 1970's for example- there was the CB radio boom. I managed a Radio Shack franchise in the mid-70's and I was able to witness first-hand that business phenomenon. CB radios caught on like wild fire and every day of the week, people flocked into my store to buy them, and we could not keep them in stock. That business boom lasted for several years.
In the 1980's, a man by the name of Bill Gates had the idea that every home would one day have a personal computer. Need I say more?
In the 1990's, the cell phone industry exploded and continues to do so.
In this decade of 2000, it is the Direct Selling/Network Marketing home-based business phenomenon. Recent proof of that was the August 9 issue of Fortune magazine with the 30-page (paid advertising) article on- The Direct Selling Phenomenon- "The industry is exploding in the U.S. and in every nook and cranny across the globe as companies recognize the value of interpersonal marketing."
One more example on a local level right here in Lapeer Michigan was the August 11, 2004 issue of The Lapeer County Press, where on the cover
page of Section C, the headline read- $elling From Home. Two full pages of the section contained several articles about the home-based business phenomenon, and why men and women are leaving the corporate world, either by choice, or after being forced out, to enjoy a great new lifestyle of working from home, having more freedom, and earning a great income- all at the same time! A dream come true for everyone in the various articles.
Here are two things to think about, and what they can mean for you and your future:
1. How would you like to have known, or been associated with in some way, Bill Gates back in the 1980's, and to have been in on the beginning of the wave of Microsoft Corporation? Do you realize what it meant financially for those who got involved with Bill Gates and his Company, and rode that wave?
Fact- You may not have had the chance to know and get involved with Bill gates, but you do have the chance to get to know and get involved with Roger Barnett and his Company- Shaklee, and ride this wave of the U.S. and global expansion of the network marketing phenomenon. Shaklee will become the largest Company in this industry (Shaklee will be the Microsoft of the Network Marketing Industry) under Roger's expert guidance and leadership.
2. Our industry has experienced 16 consecutive years of growth, and that growth is now in the double digits annually. Our industry, currently generating $80 billion in annual sales, is projected to hit $1 trillion in annual sales by the year 2010- just 6 years from now. When you are talking billions and trillions, it is hard for most people to comprehend those kinds of numbers, but here is what the Shaklee economic future will look like within the next 10 years...
Fact- Shaklee is currently a $500 million Company in annual sales. At our current size, 10% annual growth means an increase in sales of about $50 million. Not bad huh? Roger's aggressive goals and aggressive plans are to lead Shaklee to $5 billion in sales within 10 years. When you are a $5 billion Company and your sales increase by the same 10% figure, that is an increase of $500 million in sales! That's the size of Shaklee today after 49 years in business. In the not too distant future (how fast did your last 10 years fly by for you?), Shaklee's sales will be growing in a single year ($500 million) what it has taken 49 years to build to and stabilize to.
Are you seeing the big picture here? Are you seeing the immense opportunity you have sitting in your lap right now? Yes, there will be those who doubt, don't think it will happen, etc., with this industry and with Shaklee, and that is to be expected. Likewise, there were those who doubted that every home would have a personal computer and could not see the big picture with Bill gates and Microsoft. I wonder how they feel today about their decision to watch, rather than participate back in the 1980's? A big pit in the stomach I would imagine.
Given all the above, 10 years from now, will you be saying to yourself- "I'm glad I did!" or "I wish I had, if only I had known what would happen." You know what's going to happen because the forecast, predictions, and bonafide proof are everywhere. No one will be able to say 10 years from now- "I didn't know this would happen." If you watch the news, read the newspapers and magazines, if you read these emails, then you know whatt's going on.
The future of Shaklee is spectacular! With Shaklee, you have the opportunity of a lifetime and an incredible future ahead of you. This is serious big business and those who view it and treat it as such will be the big financial winners.
Never forget this! The end result of Shaklee's success, and your success, will be the fact that millions of new people in the years ahead will have benefited from the use of Shaklee products. Millions of lives around the world will be changed for the better, and our planet/environment will be a better place for it. Our products make a difference in people's lives. Our products have a neutral impact on the environment.
Remember how I said that people were flocking into the store every day to buy CB radios in the 70's? Since then, people have been flocking into the stores to buy computers, vcr's, cell phones- just to name a few hot product/business exp losions. Another part of Roger's strategy is to see to it that Shaklee comes out with one-of-a-kind products that are in high demand, and the only place in the world people will be able to get them is through us- and people will be flocking into Shaklee.
Shaklee- Creating Healthier Lives!

Commitment to goals
09.16.04 (7:25 pm) [edit]
Lessons I've Learned - Gary Burke
I do believe that as we all move along in this great Shaklee business, whether we are very new to Shaklee or "old timers" still chasing the dream, we must learn some lessons about our goals. My next lesson is what I've learned about my goals during these past years while chasing my dream.
#2. We must personally choose to commit to our goals, over and over for many
years. Committing to a dream is NOT a one-time occurance.
For over 30 years I have seen many highly capable people come into this great business we call Shaklee. I have often wondered why in the world they didn't do what they wanted to do? If I have had one person tell me they were going to be Master Coordinators, I have had at least a few hundred. What the heck happened? They seemed serious. I know that most of them were what I call high potential people and very capable of pulling it off. Why then do most people fall short of their goals?
& nbsp; &n bsp; I believe I know a big part of the answer to the above question. I have been discouraged and very disappointed, many, many times. At one point I wondered if we would EVER be able to have the kind of business that other Shaklee leaders had. I had doubts. I questioned myself as I would drive to do a meeting. This was a frequent mental excerise the first 5 to 7 years. But I did keep doing what I felt was the right things to do in order to build. I didn't care who was President of Shaklee. I didn't care what problems we faced. My committment was to become a Shaklee Master Coordinator. (the top position in Shaklee)
Why did I continue? Because I never had one day go by when I didn't think about being at the Master Coordinator rank. I committed to my goals over and over. I wanted to do it. It was a huge challenge and I wasn't willing to give in and quit.
Listen folks, please listen. The one thing I know is that you will have to committ to your goals over and over and over and over again. Maybe for years. If you have a dream, commit to it. It is not a one-time occurance.
Very sincerely,
Gary Burke

Lessons I've Learned
09.16.04 (5:54 am) [edit]
This was written by Gary Burke,Master Coordinator (that's at the top of the company in Shaklee)
Greetings, I've decided to write a few messages over the next few days about various lessons I have learned in my 34 plus years in this business. Learning lessons is a large part of moving forward in this business. Some of you think of the lessons as failure....I have learned to view failure as lessons learned. #1. Nothing is hard if you're willing to put the time and effort into learning this Shaklee business, then apply what you'vre learned.
Faye and I have worked hard at Shaklee for over 30 years. It still doesn't feel like work and I think the reason I feel this way is because it is our business and we don't work for someone. Building a strong network marketing business isn't easy for sure. I hope I have never presented it that way. It takes a lot of work and there are many disappointments along the way. But once you know that you know what to do and have trust in the system it does seem to get easier.....NOT EASY.
The biggest difference between Gary and Faye and most people in Shaklee is that we trust the system.....or process. I know it will work at anytime I make a decision to do it. It will always work but I know it isn't easy. My point today is, put the time and effort in learning what to do and how to do it, then really trust it to work for you. Enthusiastically, Gary Burke
From Cindy... One nice thing about a business marketing Shaklee products everyone starts at the bottom and works up unless they have bought a business or it is passed down from a family member. With Shaklee Corp. it has been around long enough (50 yrs.) that there are several second generation groups. Wouldn't you like to leave a large organization to your family? I know I plan to...

FIVE TIPS TO GET MORE TIME IN YOUR LIFE
09.15.04 (9:13 am) [edit]
How many of the people around you struggle with the common complaint "I just don't have enough time!"?
Here are FIVE TIPS TO GET MORE TIME IN YOUR LIFE:
1. WRITE IT DOWN. Figure out if you are a paper planner person or a Palm Pilot Person. Find a planner you like, use it religiously. You only get 168 hours in a week, and if you don't schedule them, someone else will do it for you.
2. ELIMINATE CLUTTER. Executives at major companies waste over 24 hours a year searching for common widgets like staplers, 3-hole punches, jammed photocopiers, missing coffee mugs, etc. Thousands of hours of our lives are wasted on mindless clutter. Most people already own everything they need to make a million dollars in the next 3 years. The secret is to reduce, not accumulate.
3. KILL TIME THIEVES. What steals your time? TV? Cutting the grass? Doing laundry? What $10 per hour tasks do you waste time on that could be outsourced while you concentrate on $50 per hour tasks? You only get 168 hours each week, and many thieves are out there to steal them!
4. TERMINATE TOLERATIONS. What are you tolerating in your life? What do you put up with that drains your precious energy? WHO do you tolerate? Why do you insist of repeating patterns that don't support you? What has this cost you? How much longer are you willing to endure this without change?
5. CREATE KEY LIFE AREAS. Did you have a health and fitness goal last year? Do you have one this year? Your health can be radically shifted with just 4% of your week's hours. What about relationship goals, travel goals, business goals, spiritual goals? ALL AREAS OF YOUR LIFE THAT YOU WANT TO FLOURISH NEED A PLAN, NOT JUST YOUR BUSINESS! If you don't schedule a date night with your spouse, eventually someone else will....
The last tip is a biggie. If you want a balanced, happy life then it had better be your #1 project. You can't run hard for 3 or 4 years on a business, ignoring your health, relationships, friendships, loved ones, and not expect to pay a heavy price. It doesn't have to be this way.
It IS POSSIBLE to have it all with proper planning.
If you create it in your mind first, write a plan, protect the plan from time thieves, then execute the plan... greatness will be the result. Once you master this skill for one area of your life, you can create meaningful growth in ALL areas.

How to find Prospects
09.15.04 (5:29 am) [edit]
Written By: Tim Sales Prospects are basically the foundation of any business as they are the "potential" customers to the business. So just how do YOU find prospects?
Let's start out with a definition of the word promote which is the most important word in finding prospects. The word promote means: to make known.
I was recently helping a person in my downline with her business, which was not growing. As I asked various questions I finally found the "nasty bug" that was stopping her business from moving forward. She didn't want to come off as being or sounding sales-y. This stopped her from promoting.
How does everyone else promote?
Read on for some great ideas for promoting your business that will result in finding business prospects and/or product customers. Get ideas to promote your business and get more prospects

YOUR TRIALS AND SORROWS DEVELOP YOU
09.14.04 (7:10 am) [edit]
Whatever good or bad fortune comes your way, give it meaning and transform it into something of value. Trouble is the common denominator of living. It's the great equalizer of life.
Personal growth is the process of responding positively to change. All growth means change and change always involves risks, stepping from the known to the unknown. All of your growth depends on your activity. It only comes through continuous effort and struggle. You'll have no development without effort.
Life chips and pounds you to bring out your possibilities. She will strip you of wealth, humble your pride, humiliate your ambition, let you down from the ladder of fame, and discipline you in a thousand different ways, if she can develop a little character. Everything gives way to that.
Wealth is nothing, position is nothing, fame is nothing. Who you become inside is everything.
What happens to you is not as important as how you react to what happens.

Important Internet Marketing tip
09.10.04 (5:26 am) [edit]
Making Informed Keyword Choices... Marketers stake much of their livelihood on keywords, whether for proper search engine optimization or targeted pay-per-click advertising. One challenge faced by inexperienced marketers involves knowing which phrases to target out of hundreds of combinations.
Often, one will find terms which look good, but later testing reveals the terms simply don't convert visitors to sales. If you performed your due diligence by testing and tracking all elements of the sales page (copy, graphics, price, etc), this scenario may leave you baffled and wondering "Why didn't this phrase produce sales? It really looked like a winner!"
Every search term presents us with the challenge of reading intent. What was the visitor really looking for when they typed in the phrase? While it's impossible to know this with certainty, you can improve your ability to read intent from keywords, and improve the accuracy of your targeting.
The First Guideline: Pay Attention to Qualifying Terms
Are multi-term (3 or more keyword) search phrases more targeted? Not always. A narrow search indicates only that searcher intends to find a specific piece of information. It does not necessarily indicate intent to purchase.
For example, the search phrase "big blue widget" points to a narrowly defined interest, but does not reveal whether the searcher intends to research prices, look at photographs of big, blue widgets, or merely discovered a passing curiosity after hearing about them someplace else. The phrase appears promising at first, but still presents us with a high likelihood of non-converting traffic. This doesn't mean you shouldn't test such a phrase, only that you are more likely to see a good deal of untargeted spill-over traffic.
What you really want to look for during your keyword research is qualification. Specificity is not enough. So, how do you spot the qualifying terms that indicate the searcher is in buying mode?
You spot them by applying a formula to your keyword list. If you have your list in front of you now, take a look at it and see if you can apply the following parameters to any of the phrases:
* Contextual/Situational * Urgent * Preferential Relevant terms for contextual/situational searching might include: * Bad credit/good credit * Student * Divorced * Retired * Self Employed
When you apply contextual/situational parameters to your keywords, you should think in terms of "filling in the blanks" of the situation: "If I have bad credit, where can I get a loan?" "While I'm a student, what deals can I get on travel?"
Searches qualified in this way indicate an active interest in finding solutions. Visitors generated from these terms may view themselves as still in "research mode", but the fact is that they are as ripe as they'll ever be for a convincing sales pitch.
What about urgency? The most obvious terms to look for include: fast, quick, speedy, immediate, and so on. However, you may also find terms which imply urgency, such as : easy (the easier it is, the faster it is), hassle-free, pre-approved, automatic and instant, to name a few.
Lastly, preference can reveal much about where the visitor is in the buying process. Qualifying terms pertaining to the sales process, to delivery (e.g., "instant download" or "free shipping") and customer service all indicate a proactive search for solutions.
The Second Guideline: Know Your Industry
Inexperienced marketers often miss out on keyword goldmines because they make the mistake of focusing only on the data their keyword tools give them for broad terms. The tools and tactics one picks up in his or her marketing education are valuable, but they're no substitute for intimate knowledge of the market. When you "dabble" in an industry you often choose only the most obvious keywords, and this leaves you in competition with all the other dabblers scrounging for top placement on those terms.
A much better option (especially if your field is affiliate marketing) is to educate yourself deeply on the vocabulary of one market at a time. Learn everything you can about this one market, its sub or spin-off markets, and anything else that helps you live and breathe the mindset of your potential customer.
When you do this, you will find a wealth of new keywords - words with which only an "insider" would be familiar. These terms are not only more targeted, but they invoke a measure of instant credibility as well. The customer knows you couldn't reach him if you did not "speak his language'.
The Third Guideline: Choose Terms Which Hold Synergy with Your Sales Copy
In the fight to squeeze out as much traffic as possible, it is tempting to bid on as many keywords as possible and funnel them all to one or two sales pages. A better tactic is to slice down your keyword list into subsets which closely match the tone evoked by your sales copy. Next, separate out the terms which you feel are viable but "don't quite fit", and create new sales copy to support them.
Why do all of this extra work? Well, there's a little secret you should know about. It comes from a surprising place: the world of personal ads. Personal ads provide the ultimate study in "short copy". Have you ever placed an ad on a dating site and found that most of your respondents focused on only one or two words in your profile and then wrote to you despite their obvious incompatibility?
People are often lazy and they are often hurried. Your customer's eyes zero in on only a few words - those most important to him at that very moment, and the rest of your copy gets filtered away.
This is why it's crucial that your keywords hold synergy with your sales copy - and by synergy I mean that if you intend your prospect to zero in on, for example, "easy web site creation", then your copy should speak only to ease, speed and instantaneous gratification of your product, and not make mention of any additional, complicated features. Save those features for your copy when you target people on terms like "advanced web site creation". Even if your solution offers both ease of use and advanced results, split them off.
Making informed keyword choices boosts your bottom line. Remember that quality always trumps quantity. Even though you can't read your customers mind, the guidelines presented here will get you one step closer to dissecting it!

Great Report From Roger Barnett!
09.10.04 (5:20 am) [edit]
Roger sent a voice mail from China! He's there laying the groundwork for Shaklee's expansion into that Country. Roger feels that China has the potential to be the biggest Shaklee market of all given the fact that China has the largest population of any Country in the world!
As you can see, Roger is hard at work doing what he said he is going to do--- expand Shaklee globally into 30 to 50 Countries within the next 10 years, part of the strategy to make Shaklee the largest Network Marketing Company in the world! More great news that Roger shared--- Shaklee U.S. just completed 5 consecutive business days of $1,000,000 sales. This has not happened for years in the U.S. What's even better about that news is that it took place at the end of August/first of September around a holiday weekend, and it was not due to any special promos, sales etc.--- just good old fashioned everyday business. This clearly states that sales and growth in Shaklee U.S. are really on the upsurge, and that can only be attributed to the fact that more people are coming into the business, sponsoring is increasing, and therefore sales volume is increasing significantly.
Roger's final comments were that Shaklee revenues are increasing and when that happens, Shaklee is paying out more money to the field. Again, all this new growth, new excitement, and new momentum, has taken place just in the last 90 days since Roger Barnett took over ownership of Shaklee. Great times are ahead for us all!

Postcards an effective way to stay in touch
09.08.04 (5:23 am) [edit]
Use Shak Postcards to keep in touch with your customers. There are many to choose from including:
- Vit Ocean Wond Postcard (#74932) $4/case of 50.
- Mem Opt* Postcard
(English #75016 / Spanish #75017) $6.25/case of 25.
- Citi Boos Postcard
(#75014) $4/case of 50.
- ProSa Postcard
(English #74801 / Spanish #74802) $5/case of 50.
- Opportunity Postcard
(English #74841 / Spanish #74842) $6/case of 100
Use this as a quick reference to the postcards available from Shak. Postcards are one item that is usually read in the mail. If you notice over the next couple of months their will be an unusual amount of cards coming with the political election upon us. Notice what catches your attention and save the unusual ones for ideas for your own postcards.
Another idea for and inexpensive postcard is to take a photo or find one and have it duplicated then write or have your message printed on the back... everyone likes to look at photo's..and then it's natural for them to flip the photo to look on the back side...you can be sure your message will be read on the back.

Using the flow of business tools to recruit
09.08.04 (5:02 am) [edit]
Here are some ideas on the use of the 3-minute call with Roger at 1-925-924-3333. Here is an excellent pathway to lead someone step by step to a business presentation that saves time and is very duplicable. It's not the only way, of course. It also will tell you who is really interested & ready, because they will follow the steps without your pushing & prodding. Here are the steps that recurited many into NWM (before Shaklee) and are used very successfully by other effective NWM companies. These steps give people a small bite at a time - important for busy people - and don't waste a lot of your time: 1. Call or tell someone something like this - briefly: "I have something I'd like for you to listen to, when you have a moment. I'd like to know what you think. Call this number: 925-924-3333. It's a 3-minute recorded call. I'll get back to you after you listen - what's a good time for you?" If they ask what it's about, tell them you don't have time to talk about it right now, but will get back to them - "what's a good time?" If it's a brand-new Business Partner, you may want to do the first few calls with them & do the talking after they introduce you, to get them started. This 3-minute call is a teaser. If the person listens & keeps their call-back time - or jumps the gun & calls you before you call them back - you know they're interested. If they don't keep the call-back time you set with them, move on. 2. Call them at the appointed time - briefly. Ask them questions, but NOT whether they're interested or whether they want to do this - yet. Ask them things like "what did you hear?" "what interested you?" "what did you like?"....that kind of thing. 3. If they liked what they heard, or their curiosity is piqued, ask them if they would like to fo to your PWS. If yes, then ask them to click on the Income Opportunity tab at the top - or - click on the picture of Roger (same link). OR - get their email address & send them an email | |
